Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
The saints have always spoken of the immeasurable grace and goodness found in spending time before the Blessed Sacrament.
St. Teresa of Calcutta reminded us: “When you look at the Crucifix you understand how much Jesus loved you then. When you look at the Eucharist you understand how much Jesus loves you now.”
St. Alphonsus Liguori wrote with great tenderness: “Of all devotions, that of adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the greatest after the sacraments, the one dearest to God, and the one most helpful to us.”
And St. John Vianney spoke from the depths of his priestly heart: “He is there, in the Blessed Sacrament. What a comfort it is to know that God loves us enough to remain..."
Being in the presence of Jesus
“Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)
What Is Adoration?
At St Paul’s RC Church, we are blessed to hold Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament each day from 5 pm to 6 pm. During this sacred hour, the consecrated Host, the true presence of Jesus Christ, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, is exposed upon the altar for prayer and quiet contemplation. It is a moment of reverence, stillness, and grace, where we draw close to Our Lord who dwells among us in the Eucharist.
The Holy Hour at St Paul's
The Holy Hour is a cherished devotion within the Church, a dedicated time of prayer and reflection in the presence of Christ. During Adoration, you may wish to pray the Rosary, read from Holy Scripture, meditate upon the mysteries of the faith, or simply sit silently before Jesus. It is a perfect opportunity for mental conversation with Our Lord, to speak to Him heart-to-heart and allow His peace to rest upon your soul.
The Fruitfulness of Adoration
The grace that flows from Adoration is abundant. Those who spend time before the Blessed Sacrament discover a deeper love of God, a renewed spirit of faith, and a quiet strength to face the challenges of life. In the silence of prayer, Christ heals the weary heart, enlightens the mind, and fills the soul with hope. The fruits of Adoration reach far beyond the hour itself, they continue to sustain us in charity, humility, and peace.
An Invitation to All
All are warmly welcome to join us for daily Adoration, whether for the full hour or simply a few moments of prayerful stillness. Come and spend time in the presence of Jesus, truly present in the Eucharist. Allow Him to renew your heart, deepen yor faith and love of the Lord.
During these winter months, please ensure you are dressed warmly and comfortably so that you may relax in the presence of Jesus
