Alnwick warmly invites you to gather in the Market Place for an enchanting evening as the town ushers in the beginning of the Christmas season with the much loved switch-on of the Christmas lights.
From 6pm, the square will be filled with music, laughter, and the aroma of festive treats. Voices will rise in carols, families will come together in joyful anticipation, and the spirit of the season will be felt in every corner.
In a cherished local tradition, schoolchildren will bring their handmade decorations, which members of the Alnwick Christmas Lights Committee will place upon the tree and throughout Northumberland Hall, symbols of hope, community, and celebration. Then, at 7pm precisely, the Duchess of Northumberland will join a young resident of the town to illuminate the Christmas lights, bathing the Market Place in a warm and magical glow.
